I’m breaking this into two posts. So much happened in and outside of Photoshop World that cramming everything into one post would hurt your eyeballs. I promise not to drone on for too long, though
Thank you GDSA
First, I have to say Thank you to the Santa Fe College Graphic Design Student Association (GDSA) for asking me to be the Advisor for their hard-earned trip to the 2012 Photoshop World Convention.
This group raised funds through on-campus efforts of coffee/snack sales, a graduation day photo booth, and put together a successful kick-A presentation for student government to approve additional funding. My hat off to you, ladies and gentlemen
The Metro: Hear no evil. See no evil …
After our 18-hour train ride to arrive on Friday, we found our way to the Metro, an impressive and efficient system. The only weird factor was the unspoken rule that you don’t look at each other when you ride. Instead you bury your nose in a book/newspaper (don’t get me wrong, I’m all about reading), iphone/ipod, or just stare into space.
I guess I’m just use to the south which is more talkative with its habit of striking conversations with random people. We finally got the hang of color codes and transfers just as it was time to leave.
Cherry Blossom Festival at the Tidal Basin
Friday gave fantastic weather for the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Tidal Basin. The place was gorgeous. The experience of walking through a park under a canopy of cherry blossoms … Unforgettable.

Sackler and Freer Museums
Getting our fill of blossoms for the day, we headed over to the Freer and Sackler Museums. Promptly getting lost. Here’s a word of advice: don’t follow the City map they give you. That thing is so wrong! I swear they moved buildings around and didn’t update the map.
Nightingale sunset cruise on the Potomac

We hustled over to the Potomac after the Tidal Basin. I shouldn’t say hustled. It was more like a 5-mile hike even after taking the metro! Remember, I told you about the map … ? Yeah …
The line was super long as it was the last cruise of the night. There was no guarantee that we would make the last ship. Luckily, we did

When all was said and done
We hailed a cab back to the hotel. There was no way we were going to make the trek back to the Metro the way our feet were barking. Once at the hotel, we shuffled up to our rooms like little old ladies and men.
I still swear that we won’t need to exercise for the rest of the year!
